Judas

Great wee deep study of Judas by Geoffrey Grider, proprietor of NTEB

The Real Reason Why The Devil Judas Went Out

And Hung Himself On A Tree After Betraying Jesus

When Judas lived and breathed alongside the true disciples, he was there as a type of Antichrist.

Judas is a fascinating character in the Bible if you look at him through the filter of prophecy. For starters, though he may have been born of human parents and appeared to be human, Judas was in fact a devil, according the testimony of Jesus. Judas is also an excellent type of Antichrist as we shall soon see, as well as the “son of perdition”. If you have not read our article on “DOES THE KING JAMES BIBLE REVEAL THE IDENTITY OF THE ANTICHRIST?“, you should click on the link to read it now before reading the rest of this article. Judas, like Moses, Elijah and Jesus, is set to make an appearance in the upcoming time of Jacob’s trouble after the Rapture of the Church takes place.

“Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.” John 6:70,71 (KJV)

Like many of you, for years I accepted the standard surface-skimming interpretation that Judas went out and hung himself because he had worldly sorrow but no Biblical repentance. We see that principle illustrated here:

“For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.” 2 Corinthians 7:10 (KJV)

And you can certainly make a case for that being true in Judas’ case, except for one thing. Judas was not a man given to self-reflection or sentimentality. When he, along with the other disciples, watched Mary’s incredible act of devotion towards Jesus with the ointment of spikenard, Judas’ only concern was how much money was “being wasted” in pouring it on Jesus.

“Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?” John 12:3-5 (KJV)

Those are the words of a devil, a cold, uncaring, unfeeling devil of a man. The passage continues to reveal the true character of Judas:

“This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein. Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.” John 12:6,7 (KJV)

Ouchies there, Judas, did you see what God just told us about you? In addition to being an unfeeling devil, looks like you are also a thief as well. Hmm, remind of you of anyone else we have met in Scripture before? I think so.

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 (KJV)

The Bible has revealed to us so far that the true nature of Judas is that he is a thief, a liar, a murderer and a betrayer with no natural empathy or compassion of any kind. In case you haven’t noticed, those are also the qualities and attributes of the Devil, Satan and Antichrist. Speaking of Antichrist, you will remember that he comes as an “imitation of Christ”, a false Christ, the Devil’s Christ. In the time of Jacob’s trouble, that is exactly what he will do. He will fool people, for a short time, in thinking that he is the “real deal” when in fact he is the Devil.

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” Matthew 24:24 (KJV)

The Antichrist wants what Jesus has, he wants His power, His glory and His inheritance.

What did Satan say back in the Old Testament when he raised his fist towards God Almighty? He said this:

“For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” Isaiah 14:13,14 (KJV)

See that? The Devil wants everything that rightfully belongs to Jesus Christ, and when he comes in the form of Antichrist, he wages war in the Battle of Armageddon over who has the right to God’s Holy City of Jerusalem. So what does all this have to do with Judas hanging himself? Glad you asked.

When Judas lived and breathed alongside the true disciples, he was there as a type of Antichrist. The original tare amongst the wheat, you might say. And after he had done his prophesied deed of betraying the innocent Jesus, he goes back to the Temple and has this exchange with the pharisees.

“Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.” Matthew 27:3-5 (KJV)

A quick reading of the passage might lead you to think that Judas was almost sorry for what he had done, right? Wrong. Let’s take a closer look. It says that Judas “repented himself”, but does that imply sorrow in a man we already know to be remorseless? No, it doesn’t. It simply means that he did a “180” by returning back the money he had previously taken. He “changed his mind” which is what the word repentance means.

Then Judas throws the 30 pieces of silver back at the chief priests and elders in a move that some movies portray him as nearly crying while he did it, almost like he regrets doing it. But again, remember this is the same person who callously watched Mary honor Jesus with her tears and mocked her. No, this devil of a man has no compassion of any kind. I don’t see this action of casting down the money as remorse, I see it as an act of defiance. After all, what need does a devil have with money? Judas throws the money into the face of the greedy chief priests to mock them. Yes, Judas states that he “has sinned” by “betraying innocent blood”, and I think he was happy to have done it.

Judas hangs himself “on a tree” because Antichrist is an imitation of Jesus

In a final act of defiance, Judas the devil goes out and hangs himself on a tree in the “potters field”, or the “field of blood”, Aceldama.

“Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.” Acts 1:18,19 (KJV)

Why would he do this? Because the Bible says that Jesus would give his life “on a tree”as well. What is Antichrist but an imitation of the real thing?

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:” Acts 10:38,39 (KJV)

I think in the deluded, devilish mind of Judas, he believed that he would be raised up in three days. While he was not, obviously, raised up three days later, the Bible does say something very interesting about where he went after he died.

“That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.” Acts 1:25 (KJV)

Did you catch that? Judas didn’t go to Hell, and he didn’t go to Abraham’s Bosom. He went to “his own place”, a holding place where has been for the past 2,000 years and from which he now waits to be released. When his release comes, after the Rapture of the Church, Judas will “finish what he started” by convincing the whole world that he is the Messiah right up to the moment he sits down in the Holy of Holies in the rebuilt Temple.

“When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)” Matthew 24:15 (KJV)

We finish where we started, with Judas being both a type of Antichrist and returning as the actual Antichrist. He hung himself in a pathetic attempt to “be like the Most High”. If you attach any sense of remorse, compassion or true repentance of any kind to him, it is something the Bible does not do.

The Bible shows you clearly who Judas is – a devil.

ADDENDUM TO ORIGINAL ARTICLE: As is often the case, after publishing the article I find there is more to say, so please observe the following.

  • Jesus called Judas a “friend”: “Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him. And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.” Matthew 26:48-50 (KJV). No where in the entire New Testament do Jesus and Judas have a heartfelt, friendly exchange. Judas never acts like a friend, and is recorded as “thief”, “betrayer” and a “devil”. Jesus is obviously using sarcasm, and letting Judas know that his betrayal comes as no surprise, as it is foretold in the Old Testament. “And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.” Zechariah 13:6 (KJV). With “friends” like that, who needs enemies?

  • Making Judas a good guy: As we get closer to the time of Jacob’s trouble, after the Rapture of the Church, the Antichrist will make his appearance. For reasons already stated, we believe that that will be Judas Iscariot returned. So it is only natural that an apostate Christian world has begun writing books that attempt to turn Judas into a “good guy”. Judas is not a good guy, he’s a devil.
